The search for that perfect piece of furniture, utilizing shops, catalogs, online sources, designer's showrooms, and other venues, often leads to frustration and disappointment. Mass produced furniture just doesn't cut it. That's the time to seek out a professional furniture designer for a custom made piece - a lasting piece of fine furniture that fits your individual needs and tastes -- furniture created exclusively for you by someone who possesses the knowledge, craftsmanship, creativity and understanding to produce a unique piece of furniture that you will cherish forever.
Whatever the case, that's where I come in!
My satisfaction lies in seeing that my clients get something that no one else has or ever will have. Sometimes, an artifact, an old iron grate, or some other relic becomes the genesis for a piece of my custom made furniture. Or, it might be an interesting metal finish or exquisite piece of wood that gets my creative juices flowing.
Whether I work directly with you, or with your interior designer or architect, I begin by asking questions - a lot of them. It's important that I find out what your vision is -what images you may have, what the piece's function or purpose will be, and where it will be placed.
I keep digging until I have a complete understanding of you and your needs. Your input is crucial. At times, a look at my portfolio of work may trigger a response. Other times, a magazine clipping or page in a book may spark a concept. (Knock-offs, however, are not my style, so we don't even go there. There are enough creative concepts floating around in our collective consciousness, just waiting to be built.)
Continuing in this vein, I begin to get a real sense of what is most important, including stylistic characteristics that the piece may require, your aesthetic sense, and finally price considerations and budget. Let's be honest, custom made anything is not inexpensive. IKEA and Crate & Barrel are inexpensive. Your neighbor may have the same piece. They're mass produced!
